Snicker
Snacker..
...and other famous sayings
Lest the years go
by and someone doesn't know who to attribute the following sayings to,
please let it be known that it was KAREN who first said "EAT REAL
FOOD" and Karen who first said "I can even Zone a Ding-Dong
(tm)" and finally changed it to "I can even Zone a Snicker's
Bar (tm)."
What this means is
that ANY food can be made to fit into the Zone if you simply look at the
nutritional informatio. I have since decided that I would rather NOT Zone
a Ding-Dong because they are filled with hydrogenated fat. However, Snickers
Bars are not only delicious, but made of realy good foods and NOT that
far away from many of the Zone-balanced bars on the market except that
they lack protein. In fact, for total sugar content for a two block bar,
TWO Snickers Travel sized bars have the same amount of sugar, and you
can eat 2 pieces of string chese plus 2 Snickers Bars (tm), and ENJOY
the string cheese, then ENJOY the candy, instead of trying to persuade
yourself somehow that the Zone-balanced bar that you ate somehow tasted
good.
To make a visual point,
here are THREE CARB BLOCKS, completely made from Snicker's Mini-sized
candy bars.

I took
this picture on my gram scale to illustrate a point. Out of all 6 of these,
their TOTAL WEIGHT is only 50 grams. That 50 grams includes WRAPPERS,
carbs, protein, fat, and water. That is NOT 50 grams of carbs alone. Were
I to eat a completely healthy 3 block meal, say of 3 ounces of chicken
or fake chicken 6 cups of cooked broccoli, some dressing on the broccoli,
there would be NOTHING WRONG and not even anything unhealthy about having
2 of these little candies for my desert. I would never suggest that anyone
eat all 6 of these for their total carb block consumption for a meal each
day...BUT IF YOU HAD ONE MEAL THAT SCREAMED FOR CAKE OR CANDY...I would
bet it is HEALTHIER for you than eating 1-1/2 Zone Balanced Bars...
...and it would TASTE
LOTS BETTER TOO.
LIke I said...eat
real food. And sometimes sugar IS real food. While it IS devoid of many
of the vitamins and minerals that delicious and nutritious fruits and
veggies have, you have to remember the last saying that I should be famous
for...
"It's a LIFESTYLE...NOT
a LIFE SENTENCE."
